    1. > “So ‘3’ was the end… of the Andy years,” Stanton told Empire. “Nobody’s being robbed of their trilogy. They can have that and never watch another if they don’t want to. But I’ve always loved how this world allows us to embrace time and change. There’s no promise that it stays in amber.”

      > “Toy Story 5” finds Woody, Buzz, Jessie and the rest of the beloved gang facing off against an iPad-like tablet called Lilypad. Stanton said the movie is “not even really about a battle so much as the realization of an existential problem: that nobody’s really playing with toys anymore.”

      > “Technology has changed everybody’s lives, but we’re asking what that means for us — and to our kids. We can’t just get away with making tech the villain,” Stanton added.

Nobody plays with toys? The global toy industry is valued at over 316 billion dollars.

Plus, this is literally Disney. They know a thing or two about toy sales.

I have not seen it answered, but how they gonna explain Woody being back after the end of 4?

    4. My ass, nobody plays with toy!!! Kids and teenagers still clamoring for toys every year and every decade. Technology does not speak to everyone

Of course kids still play with toys. This just sounds like an old guy shouting at the sky.

    6. Adults play with toys. Kids sure do, too. Sounds like something from the 2012, back when „iPad kids“ became mainstream.

Everyone said to stop at 3 and then 4 was amazing. Keep going until you suck.

Toy story 3 should’ve been the last movie. I thought it was a miracle that they managed to make the 4th film as good as it was. But to force a 5th movie to be made just shows how corporate Disney became and it’s not as magical as it was before. And what’s unfortunate is that Andrew Stanton, the writer and director for some classic Pixar films, is helping to push this corporate agenda. I can only hope that he knows what he’s doing and that the film is actually worth watching when it comes out

    9. Who knows what adventures those crazy toys will have between now and the time the IP becomes unprofitable?

This is hilarious cause there are literally adults that still play with toys possible moreso than as children cause now they can actually afford to.

I say this as someone who bought a Talocanil spear from Wakanda forever and take it off the wall all the time to spin around lmao

    11. The toy industry: People aren’t playing with toys? How are we still in business?

    12. I’ll watch it. I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt. They’ve all been great and I’ll start hating on sequels once they drop a dud.

Huh?? If anything people are playing with toys more than ever, which how much the adult collector market has been booming

    15. BreakfastPizzaStudio on

Uh huh, “address this particular issue” AKA make more money.

Nobody plays with toys anymore? Tell that to my kids. And to every retail employee during Christmas shopping season.

    17. moderatenerd on

Maybe if Disney released some merch for streaming shows more people would play with your toys… Just saying

    18. Xeroxenfree on

Wasn’t that hinted at in 1, explored in 2, and revisited on 3 and 4? Like hasn’t that been the hidden villan the whole time? Age bringing the abandonment of toys.

    19. I really hope the toys finish by going back to Andy’s kids. Like, for some reason, they are sold after couple years at Bonnie’s. Andy is passing by Bonnie’s garage sale with his boy in a stroller and he takes them again. The circle is complete, Woody gets back his mission, etc. And since they are never gonna stop making those, they can continue woth the new kid lol
