Ukraine needs 160 billions to keep a defensive war going for another 18 months. Even if the mythical Russian bonds held by Euroclear are transferred to Ukraine, then what? Lower the draft age to 18?
Wouldn’t it be better to use the 160 billion for the reconstruction of Ukraine, and its fast track access to the EU?
Sanctions against Russia can be kept in place and its eventual economic meltdown in the near future could be used to retrieve the lost land in the future.
It’s honestly fn wild how the ‚peace through strength‘ crowd is absolutely fine with ‚peace through surrender‘.

This is absolute bullshit, but I think this will eventually be the outcome. Ukraine isn’t going to retake all that territory on their own, and the rest of the world will eventually tire of dumping money and equipment into a neverending war. I understand why Ukraine would reject these terms and hold out. The only question is when the rest of the world has had enough.

Russia controls 20% of the country,in what reality will they agree to „Oh well, we’ll leave mate“.
Either Ukraine come sup with a miracle,makes the peace or Russia keeps eating the country and comes back with even more demands (and rightfully so, since they will be winning even more).
Since no one really cares about Ukraine (only stealing her resources with weak deals) they will have to accept defeat or fight until they completely break.

There is such a huge disconnect between the realities of the Ukraine war vs the general western perception of what is happening due to serious propaganda efforts from both sides. A lot of people on the reddit echo chambers believe that Ukraine is putting up a good fight and they are really hurting Russia, Putin is done for, Russian economy is near collapse.
However Ukraine is the one slowly losing territory and their citizen’s tolerance for war has steadily been decreasing. NATO is happy to supply just enough for Ukraine to slowly lose, no country is sending their troops to die in Ukraine. All the economic sanctions have hurt Russia, but non has been fatal to Putin.
Without land concessions, Russia will not discuss ceasefire or peace.

Not sure why they’d be alarmed, MAGA is a Russian creation and Trump bends to whoever kisses his ass the hardest. They need to tell Trump that Putin hates him and that only a truly alpha president would help arm Ukraine. Or, Ukraine can get some blackmail of their own on Trump

The US has literally nothing to lose in supporting Ukraine, especially if it can make the Europeans pay for the weapons they’re providing. The USSR and China bankrolled the entire North Vietnamese war effort during the Vietnam War, providing missiles, fighters, tanks, etc. and there was nothing the US could do against that. Why would it go differently today with the US and Ukraine?
