A microsoft executive and AI ceo that’s out of touch? How could this be?
Seriously though, in this age of information overload, how could anyone be so totally unaware of the discourse around the thing their in charge of? How has he not accidentally heard some of the criticisms that inundate every conversation about Microsoft and AI?
Does he not use a computer himself and rely solely on yes-men to get all his information?

It’s almost.. almost as if he doesn’t use his own product, or have any grip on the reality of people who just need to „get sh*t done“ without having an AI hallucinate, break, and degrade their workflow.. Thanks for continuing to gargle your shareholder’s balls. Bravo! Swallow another load of that dividend bonus.
Not content with sinking their Xbox division, Microsoft also looks to be trying their best to torpedo their Windows division too.
I really and truly despise these people. If they had to compete in an open market without their entrenched and huge status Windows would be an also-ran.

95% of what people use PCs for is either web browsing or games. They don’t need an „agentic“ OS to do that.
There’s a nugget of insight here:
The true believers see what they’re doing as mother bountiful, ushering in a new age of AI utopia.
They literally don’t see them as destroying anything. They don’t see that they’re breaking trust, being intrusive, giving people things they don’t want. They don’t understand that it’s *possible* that people could not want it.
This to me is more dangerous and scary than the cynical moves for stakeholders. Cynical moves for stakeholders will back down after backlash, will reassess when it affects their bottom line.
The true believers will burn everything to the ground became they crave a world of ash.

Maybe it’s because they promise the moon on a stick when they’re delivering an unreliable toddler with an inability to distinguish fact from hallucination?
AI being impressive and AI being ready for consumers are two totally different things and I feel like every CEO on the planet has forgotten that.
I want a firewall between my pc, files, etc and any AI shit they are cooking up. I don’t want it and never asked for it.
I don’t want a conversation with my OS. I just want to open an application, which are now buried instead of just opening a list or easy to search for (like spotlight) instead of taking me to yet another MS ad.
AI literally only serves people making millions and billions of dollars. AI doesn’t improve anyone else lives except for a small subsection of people. They give us ways to make AI art and music, but it doesn’t clean my dishes or apply for jobs for me. It doesn’t save me time.
People should read The Verge article mentioned in this piece to see just how poorly Copilot performs. The final paragraph:
„I tried to meet Copilot where it’s at, but it failed at everything I asked it to do. Like much of the generative AI tech out there, it’s an incomplete solution in search of problems. There could be something useful here, especially for the accessibility community, if it can one day fully control Windows. But talking to Copilot today makes powerful computers seem incompetent. It’s hard to see how we get to Microsoft’s bold vision of the agentic AI future from what it’s shipping to real consumers today.“
As punishment, this CEO should be forced to use only the agentic Copilot for everything he does for a month. He would scrap the program for sure

My world view is that when I pull a lever or push a button and a machine doesn’t do what it’s supposed to do, then the machine is broken.
AI is broken and not ready to replace any automation because it can’t replace a calculator. Or they are just using this new tech in the wrong way.
Maybe getting something right 90% of the time is good for a consultant but everything with AI is worse, so far, than what it’s replacing. That’s why I don’t use it. It makes way too many mistakes.
