    1. Poilievre knows he’s got the one shot left and forcing an election now would have meant almost certain defeat. I don’t think he’ll ever regain his blue wave mojo back or pull a Harper and moderate for the next election either. (mainly because his behavior as well as commentary from former staffers suggests he’s incapable of doing so) He also has much less support from the moderate wing of his party and can’t really risk another floor crossing or public displays of disunity for the party.

      I also assume that if the CPC loses the next election with Poilievre, they’ll likely be rudderless for an election or two without him as well since there’s a lack of strong federal candidates to rile up the base. I could see Ford running federally, but I don’t think he’d consider it until after 2028-2029, which means he probably wouldn’t be leader until the 2030s.
