I see takaichi has adopted the Trump style of schizophrenic governance like when he decided to “go hard on GYNA one day and wants 600,000 Chinese students the next day because he thinks Americans are too dumb.” Curious to see this new and innovative approach to governing will lead.
Biggest problem but unless they allow immigration they’ll be forever doomed
„I will work, work, work, work, work!“
„Japan needs more people having kids“
Pick one. Interestingly, Takaichi never had kids (she’s adopted her husband’s kids from another marriage), so she’s not really a person to give advice to Japanese women.
Looking at Carrying Capacity and Sustainability…
Japan could benefit from reducing below 100m to begin with at some point. If you are familiar with the basic data in the above it is in fact positive in that sense.
Compare:
* New Zealand = 6m
* UK = 72m
* Japan = 125m
Comparable land areas. For starters.
I think two approaches should be conducted under turning the decline into a smoother decline (already happening anyway):
1. Strategise decline eg push from remote regions is inevitable and pull to urban
2. Attempt Skilled Professionals Migration not mass unskilled.
3. Incentivize Family Life balance of time vs work life excess eg more of the former and less of the latter
I am slightly sceptical of politicians who make soundbites on Migration policy or any policy without laying out the underlying basics as starting points before considering policy options.

Yes, yes it is. The social order as a whole seems almost antithetical to the idea of childrearing in its current form. If you want people to have children, first you have to help them ensure their financial stability. Second, you either have to ensure that child care is affordable and available or a single person makes enough money for the other spouse to stay home with the children without causing financial duress.
Maybe stop paying people 1000 fucking yen and stop bragging about keeping everyone in the office at 2.
someone downvoted this so i am going to repeat it : maybe stop paying 1000 fucking yen and quit bragging about keeping people at the office at 2.
I wonder if we’ll get one of those women are baby making machines type of comments like in 2007. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2007/jan/29/japan.justinmccurry
