I find it hard to justify expanding our shipyard capacity only for a handful of ferries every few decades. Unless we’re going to introduce some version of the Jones act, which requires Canadian-made vessels to ply our coastal waters or similar, there’s an upward limit of what our capacity is. I’d argue, we’ve hit it.
I never thought I’d see the day the NDP was calling for fleecing the taxpayer to give handouts to corporations. Corporations that didn’t even bid on the original tender.
