Danke

Just put it in your pocket after you finish drinking and make a run for it.

    2. Although it is not the traditional design, it is a very basic model. I think you will be able to find it in a bigger Continente. If it doesn’t work, just ask the café staf if you can buy a couple. It probably costs them less than €1 a piece to buy.

Just google „tall glass with handle“ and you’ll likely find an imitation you can buy online.

The original ones used for „galão“ in Portugueses establishments are certified and protected and cannot be exported, it is illegal to do so, as they are part of our national heritage. You might find them in the „black market“ but in that case you should report it.

If you try to smuggle one in your luggage the scanners at the airport will detect it and you’ll pay an hefty fine. You might also be blacklisted. Customs authority has gypsies on payroll to curse Galão glass smugglers and that might affect you negatively up to the 3rd generation.

    4. Ask for the cup. That’s it. My grandpa collected coffee cups and he always asked if he could get them if he saw a different one. Basically everytime they just said „Sure, take one!“. Other times they asked for like 1€ or something and he would gladly pay it.

Can’t buy those, mate. You get one when you are born in Portugal. A long with a dry cod fish, a moustache, 2 pastéis de nata and a bottle of red wine.

All brought by a stork named Sardinha.

Don’t know where to buy them, but if you can ask the coffee owner and I guess people here will give you some possible options.

That galão looks amazing tho, real deal.

    7. I don’t have these kinds of cup, but I collect coffee mugs (the small cups for express cups). In the old days I would steal them, but not my thing anymore. I usually ask the coffee shop. Sometimes they give me one. Others times, specially if it is a
special cup, the coffee shop itself sells them.

I have a collection of Belíssimo cups (a sub brand from the Portuguese mega coffee brand Delta) that I bought at a coffee shop and I absolutely adore them.

So, just ask the people at the coffee shop or go directly to the website of a coffee brand. I think Delta has an online shop.

    8. The traditional way one would aquire it is as follows:

      -Get a group of people

      -Go to a café

-Everyone orders breakfast with a drink in a cup like that

-One person in the group puts their glass in their pocket

-The staff doesn’t notice one cup is missing

I am not saying this is the right way, but it is tradition. Alternatively you can just ask the staff to take it home, give them 2€ for it
