    1. We tested this right?

We took it to a subset of the TAM (Total addressable market) and figured out who are target audience was, right?

We listened to them, and got feedback, right?

We took that feedback to heart and used it to improve our product based on the feedback we received, right?

Or we just decide it was good. It’s going to the MOON! 🌙

Ship 🚢 this sucker. We’ll be richer than god!

      Sweet hallelujah!

    2. I feel like that’s just like taking a massive shit and leaving it for other people to clean up.

I thought it was fairly accepted that the iPhone air was gonna be the precursor/base for a future foldable phone?

    4. If Apple is going to have three different iPhones, why shouldn’t one of them be thinner or lighter or smaller?

If you need something bigger and heavier than the Pro with even longer battery life… isn’t that sort of a sign you need a laptop?

What about the guy who is responsible for that $300 Fanny pack ??

    6. Buried several paragraphs deep: “His exit is unrelated to the debut of the phone…”

What innovation did the air take to design? It looks exactly like what iPhones look like but thinner

Apple killed their own debut of the air by pushing those batteries. Had they said “ improved battery life over iPhone 16” thenrolled that battery out later, it woul hav3 done much better.

    9. Apple has been taking the L this last year and a half.

Vision Pro, Liquid Glass, iPhone Air, Capture Button, and Apple Intelligence are all colossal failures.

It seems like the approach is to create a problem and provide a half baked solution.

Just make a repairable phone that lasts a 3 days and it will sell like hotcakes.

    10. Abidur Chowdhury was also a key figure in the MacBook Air, which has done gang busters for them. He’s name-dropped a lot by former colleagues when they do podcasts.

I do wonder if the start up is Project Prometheus.

    11. he realised just saying „make the next one thinner“ was time limited strategy

Ok? This needed to be an article? A Reddit post? Who gives a shit

This is pretty messed up honestly. I know this guy – Apple hired him right out of school and he was probably one of the youngest designers in their ID group. This article is making it seem like he came up with the idea, designed it and introduced it all to the world and then is being blamed for its failure. In no world was this product his idea, this was a product on a roadmap developed by a leadership team and handed to the design and engineering group to complete because they believed it would sell. As a designer myself, I would be horrified if random journalists were writing stories about a product I designed failing.

I’m just gonna say Steve Jobs would’ve never allowed any of this to happen under his watch.

      Liquid Glass is ass.

New iPhones are released yearly with barely noticeable upgrades.

      iPhone air is ass.

      Etc etc.

    15. Oh no what will apple ever do?
The design is pretty simple and im sure there are other designers on the team that have grasped the guy leavings style.
