      We’ve known this for quite some time already. Many animals without a centralized brain have neuron ganglia distributed across the body that coordinate central functions.

      As deuterostomes (organisms whose assholes develop first, as opposed to protostomes, whose mouths develop first) urchins have more in common genetically with every vertebrate than every invertebrate.
