Yeah! Let’s use sketchy non FDIC insured platforms and services ! I won’t lose anything, and it can’t be used against me or to control me more than the current systems. I don’t care if the extremists happen to use those, I’m not supporting their causes.

The point is just to keep central control of money movement away from the govt. I’m sure it’s nice to more easily freeze peoples money, but it’s nice to have that power decentralized and in the private businesses on a civic rights level.

    3. It so so sooo soo doesn’t depend on whoever is in power. NO BODY EVER will be able to send money peer 2 peer, as long any government thinks taxing will get harder. With transaction providers as Mastercard, Visa, AmExit will not happen. They will use every bit of their lobby power. We do not need those companies. With online banking and APIs, all banks could use a central payment system. With SWIFT and stuff banking is also possible internationally. Money transfers within seconds. NOBODY will allow any of us, to use crypto money as it was intended. The digital version of physical cash.

    4. Wait how were you sending money until now? Was there some government bank I could have used?

So this is Pro Crypto with Anti Crypto regulations? Yeah that’s why it was invented, sure, yeah. Crypto currency has become the rich man’s corruption of wealth. They want all the dollars and all the Crypto. All the gold. All the silver. All the diamonds. All the oil, too. All. Never be enough, gotta have more than all of it.

Where are the crypto bros when you need them to promote decentralized currency?

Another way to make his buddies rich and take over the transfer process. We already have visa and Mastercard.

    10. I am not a crypto shill. I sit on the board (supervisory committee even) of a medium sized credit union about $7B AUM with a federal charter but operating primarily in one state with indirect auto loans in bordering states.

I went to Money 20/20 last month which is the Super Bowl of fintech conferences. Stablecoin is coming in _fast_, a lot faster than we were anticipating. I spent time with Circle, Coinbase, and Visa trying to unpack a use case that kept FDIC for our members, didn’t confuse them when looking at balance, and allowed them to use existing plastic, all while nearly doubling their yield. It’s wild how close we are. If a medium sized CU can make this work this is _really_ exciting for consumers as they sidestep a lot of tollbooths for payments.

Invest in ATMs everyone they will force us back to cash for under the table transactions.

Because there will always be under the table transactions, even they have to have them, and they will revert to cash for all of them not just the super hush hush ones.

    12. When I lived in Australia everyone with a bank account had a code which you can give out and money can be put into your account from anyone natively. BSB number it was called. The US is super backward and scummy in this regard imho.

    13. If I need to transfer money, the recipient gives me their bank details, and I transfer it directly into their account. No third party needed. No charges paid.

      Is America great yet?
