Who chooses the pictures to go with these articles?
The picture is simultaneously the best and worst possible euphemism depiction I’ve ever seen.

> Nearly one in five perimenopausal and postmenopausal women had noticed that self-pleasure provided symptom relief. Relative to other symptom management strategies, masturbation was rated among the highest in providing symptom relief, especially with respect to psychological symptoms (ie, mood changes) and sleep disturbances. Nearly half of perimenopausal and postmenopausal women indicated that they would be open to trying masturbation as a symptom relief approach if their doctor recommended it.
> Masturbation may play a valuable role in managing menopause symptoms, and it is important that physicians discuss the potential benefits of self-pleasure with their patients.
There are a lot of layers to having that discussion. I wonder how women who are not actively participating in a study would take to the conversation given all of the taboos (social, religious, sexual) around female masturbation. Maybe something like an informational pamphlet would help
Based on what i see in the menopause sub, i think it is much more likely that only women who are experiencing mild symptoms would find this useful. The severity and range of symptoms of menopause is pretty huge and one of the most common is loss of libido, which would make doing this pretty difficult. Also, again based on the sub, women are not choosing to use hormones less, the physicians are refusing to prescribe them. Yet another symptom of the medical war on women’s health.
Guess i can walk in on my mom masturbating and return the years of barging into my room
I can definitely say as an older woman, orgasms help with everything, tbh. Stress relief, anxiety, insomnia, etc. They are considerably harder to achieve though as libido and energy declines (as well as the availability/health of partners). At the risk of this being seen as a joke, they really should consider vibrators a medical device, especially for menopausal/post menopausal folks.
