I do not know if it would feel all too different because when you visit Spain, Italy, and France most people visit the large cities. It may appear different if you drive through them or take a train. But we have to keep in mind that interior Spain is pretty arid and has a desert called the Tabernas desert. France and Peninsular Italy are much more conducive to human activity so their populations are going to be more spread out.

It looks to my untrained eyes as if Milano is more populated than Roma. Do Roma’s city limits extend out farther than those of Milano?
