      Am I
Misunderstanding but the southern/religious states have a higher rate of remarrying ? What are the causes ,m? Death? Divorce ?

    2. Wonder how well this correlates religious population and average age of first marriage.

The south has higher divorce rates overall. Also Idaho and Wyoming.

If at first you don’t succeed – try, try again.

On a serious note, I’d be interested in seeing this same data against net worth. Something tells me the wealthy would have the highest percentage. Old dudes trading in their boring standard wife for younger models as they get wealthier, etc.

Not surprised DC has the lowest rate, you know how hard it is to find an affordable place to live? No thank you, I’ll just suffer.

After my grandmother died my grandfather remarried. His second wife had been widdowed twice before and she survived him as well. She was married 20+ years three separate times.

Ehhh these numbers are skewed downward since the data set is population aged 15 or older. Brother eww

I wish fewer Americans divorced, it is extremely destructive to society.

      Lots to unpack here.

At first I thought it was inversely related to income, but Puerto Rico has very low rates but low incomes, so religion is a factor, with Catholic states having fewer divorces, but Louisiana is high up there, so maybe morbidity is also a factor?

The places where „no sex before marriage“ is seen as more important than „divorce is adultery“.

    11. Is the map based only on the divorce rate or does it also take into account the death of a spouse?

My aunt who has been married 3 times lives in Arkansas, so this tracks.

    13. Most of the Democratic strongholds have most of the lowest ranks. I don’t know what that means exactly, but there it is.

    14. I want to see a scatter plot of states where x = age of first marriage, y = percent married 3 or more times to see the r

Sorry guys, my aunt completely skewed the statistic for Kentucky by marrying 5 times and uh, divorcing 6.

    16. I’d like to see a map with percentage married more than twice who still have the same in-laws.

Look at the heavily Catholic region up near the tri-state area, lol.
