We know we have more things to move around to make it harder to use our OS and more ways to install spyware, When they put AI into notepad, I knew they were just a spy agency at that point, and not even trying to hide it.
What does that even mean? What work specifically? God I hate this kind of empty corporate speak that usually just amounts to „this is just damage control while still doing what we planned to do anyways.“
I am so tired of every single company milking this AI shit. Stop sticking it in EVERYTHING. Please. Just go back to Windows 2000/XP/7 with a modern kernel and updated properly designed interface. Stop with this nonsense.
Make the AI crap an optional installation so people who REALLY want it can install it and those of us who don’t can just forget it was ever made.
Just go back to 10 and we’ll all forget it happened.
Microsoft Windows team doesn’t have a lot of work to do. They did a bunch of work that the users never asked for in an attempt to monetize everything. All of these ads and up-sells didn’t add ANY value to the users.
Every time there is a security patch, I shouldn’t have to opt out of Office365, changing my e-mail to outlook, using Edge browser, and syncing my phone with my computer. Each of those is purpose-designed to steal a certain type of information that will be used for more ads.
Don’t even get me started with Windows AI. They spent so much money on funding AI, I wouldn’t be surprised if all of the big tech companies either start trying to monetize it forcefully or their quarterly earnings will be drastically negative.
But we won’t take any criticisms seriously and implement them.

It’s not about how unfinished we think it is. It’s about the direction you’re going.
We don’t give a fuck how much work you have left if that work is making the product worse.
Time to drop Windows and install Linux.
Microsoft would be amazed at what happens if they stop treating their users like a product.
Centralise privacy in the OS, ensure apps conform to it (or you don’t get code signing certs), and 90% of the complaints go away.
If you must, set the default tickboxes so the lazy users still give you all their data.
I’m not sure why I even use windows anymore. Maybe just because I always have. But Linux is looking more and more enticing every day.

How can you add a new „recovery“ feature and not test USB input? No, I do not have a PS/2 keyboard OR input. Few people do nowadays.

Tweaking Windows was almost my hobby back in the day. Now it’s useless because with every update they shove crap down your throat without asking.
My favorite one was a One Drive update that gave me an „out of space error“. Turns out they just started syncing my files into the cloud without as much as a popup. What if those files were highly sensitive?!
But for everything else MS wants to upsell, be assured you are going to get a goddamned popup.
The problem is that they don’t know. They have no foundational vision, no map, no plan.
Microsoft have always felt that they have to mix it up with every new release, when all they had to do really is fix bugs and increment. But you can’t sell serial numbers that way.
Linux makes more sense than ever, and they just keep pushing it. Crazy out of touch fools.
Linux mint is my main os for gaming now, just go back to simplicity and im back 100% in win11. For now, it’s only used for when I play vr flight/sim racing.

I’m still on Windows 10. I’ve never installed Windows 11, and there is no way in hell I will ever install Windows 12.

I just want my operating system to be an operating system, not a fucking computer that automates tasks without asking me and speaks to me.
The translation is that users aren’t using it, they’re turning it off or at minimum searching if they can/how to. Not a soul is going to pay for an AI assistant that isn’t already paying OpenAI and nofuckingbody wants AI on their personal laptop and tablet. They don’t even want them on phones.
AI is never going to be a mainstream consumer service that can generate a large enough profit to actually be worth it.
