Wonder if this is the first step, test, to see how resilient their economy is to the disruptions of war over Taiwan.

The assumption has always been that the Japanese would see a war in the Taiwan Straight as an existential threat and attempt to actively assist Taiwan with the JSDF.

      Edit:

The Russians first began testing for the invasion of Ukraine back in 2019 at least.  I had crim defense clients being deployed with the US military to the Baltics and Poland as a show of force in response to what ended being preliminary Russian moves testing NATO response to mobilization.

    2. „to exercise caution in the country“

      This is just stupid.

caution against what? Not eating delicious food and admiring the giant Gundam in diver city. I guess the taiwanese people can enjoy those all by themselves.

    3. The biggest joke is, Chinese travelers are saying fuck it I have nothing to do with politics. 🤣🤣🤣

    4. Japan is fine. Nothing pretty much ever happens in Japan. What they are really saying is that they might be pulling screwhead nonsense towards Japan… saber rattling or whatever… that is nasty and stupid enough they don’t want any of their people in the middle of. Anything that happens will be entirely outside of Japan and entirely at China’s stupid, expansionist hands.

This is why I would caution any country with allying with China completely.

However, despite this, China is still a better ally than the US, unfortunately.

Edit: to all the Americans downvoting me, I’d love to hear your reasoning as to why a country that is threatening to annex mine is a better ally than China. Lmao. I’m waiting.

What happened? At any rate it is a hit in the wallet of Japan.

      It is going to hurt

    7. This is not newsworthy at all if you know the situation. China is a very much a drama queen on this kind of matters. A few years ago the Chinese authorities ordered all domestic map apps to display an available train route to Taiwan, and made it a national news: Map apps now show domestic train route to Taiwan. If you actually tap that option in the apps, they just show you “Taiwan strait high speed railway bridge (under construction)”. And in fact no actual construction plan had (has) been made. The whole thing was to satisfy the pathetic nationalists.

    8. Takaichi’s way to lower tourist amount while scoring political points.

      200 IQ play there lol

    9. Are flights being cancelled, or are passengers just being offered refunds (article is paywalled)?

I hope South Korea can do the same.
