I did a tour of the Vatican museum a couple of years ago, it seemed me about 70% of the stuff was stolen/misappropriated – people moan about the Elgin marbles but look to yourselves!

having read only the headline, I assume the method of doing so was some sort of indiana jones / museum cat burglar situation where the pope was personally retrieving and returning artifacts to people by repelling in and dodging lasers to heist them
