      * red outline: border of the German Confederation in 1815
      * orange-white hatched: branches of the House of Habsburg in Italy
      * orange-red hatches: territory of the Military Frontier against the Turks (until 1867)

    2. this map got me straight trippin‘! Like, did anyone else notice how Italy got royally shafted post-Vienna, despite their major contributions?

    3. Wallachia and Moldavia were not part of the Ottoman Empire. They were tributaries under Russian protection.

I’m guessing the dashed borders are disputed/undefined here? If so, I’m surprised not all of Switzerland’s borders are well defined by this point.

It’s interesting that the Kingdom of Lombardy-Venetia is just orange here and not striped like Parma or Modena. I guess because it was directly ruled by the Emperor unlike those other Italian realms which were controlled by Hapsburg family members?

Why is the eastern parts of Prussia not considered part of the German confederation (not within the red line) here? Too Slavic/Baltic in 1815?

Also a rare sighting of the Free City of Krakow. What a weird moment in history.

Just perfect. Unite Germany and Italy too and Europe should’ve stayed like that till today
