Offline dating events in my city has exploded, seems like it is the new trend and imo it is way better than everyone swiping.
Don’t forget that Match Group owns around 40 dating services including Tinder, OkCupid, Hinge, Plenty of Fish, and of course Match.com.
Dating in the 21st century in a 1st world country is beyond fuck. Everyone has off the roof standards, requirements, commitments.

dating apps are dying and good riddance they’re miserable and designed specifically for squeezing out cash from lonely people it’s probably the single most miserable experience for when it comes to making genuine connections people have been tired of that shit for a while myself included there’s better ways to form genuine connections
They are doing that by bleeding them dry and giving them no matches.
If the app worked – they wouldn’t have users
All the dating apps suck ass.
It’s because they want to make money, they have no incentive to match people and get them off the apps.
Is there a dating app that isn’t designed to fail its users? They all make more money the longer you keep using it, and the more you have to pay extra for features that make it useful at all in the first place. Obviously they would want only enough success to keep the rest desperate.

I can’t wait to see actual friendships and human interaction paywalled behind a corporate overlord that has found a way to extract profit from human isolation. Surely this will not create perverse incentives to keep just miserable enough to be willing to pay for their shitty services.
The purpose of dating apps is to keep you single and using their app.
I’ve tried tinder and hinge in the two months post divorce. Tinder was awful. Hinge surprisingly great. Lots of actual matches and no one has tried to scam me. 41 year old guy in the Midwest.
I know they’re owned by the same company but such a wildly different feel to me.
Well, they’ve gotten shittier and the prices some of these apps ask for their subscription service (which gives you back features the app had years ago or in the case of Tinder, literally flick the switch to make it functional) is insane. I’ve never paid for dating app subscriptions (I’ve gotten close to that level of desperation, but never given in) but I remember them being no more than $25/month just 4 years ago, and I thought even that was ridiculous. Now? $25 gets you ONE WEEK. I repeat. ONE WEEK of the app functioning. Ah but dont worry, its only a breezy $50/month now! Or $200 a year! Or you could pay $300 for our LIFETIME SUBSCRIPTION! How about you pay $30 for ten of our *super duper lovey dovey* likes/roses that put you at the top of a person’s list which in Tinder they can’t see, it just makes your profile *more probable* to be in the next handful of profiles they see. Fucking insanity.
Maybe they should have built a business model that didn’t actively fight you to find a partner, because if you do, you stop feeding the app cash.

Can’t believe there was a time when okcupid was a usable platform where I met awesome people and my ex.
Now it’s just fake profiles a thousands miles away from where I live and goddammit, no settings changes it.
Every dating app I’ve seen is just there to keep you on it paying money. Literally anything else is better for dating.

The business model of all these apps are a clear conflict of interest. If the app does exactly what users want it to do – it would lose money.
I’d love to see a dating app that did something like charging an up-front subscription with discounts if you DON’T get any dates, and/or free months if you aren’t matched in X months. Basically, you only pay if it’s working.
I had tinder for five minutes and just to see who liked/viewed my profile, they wanted me to pay. FORGET IT.
Tinder made it so nobody is actually successul in dating so users keep coming back. Fuck these apps, never used one, go meet people in real life
