Doesn’t Venezuela already have the largest oil reserves in the world? How would that help them?
The only viable path (logistically) to get to the claimed land is through Brazil however and I don’t think they’re going to let Venezuela actually use it.

Americans really do learn geography thru war. As the military has built up and people have sought justifications for invading Venezuela we’ve seen more maps of it.

The US has done military drills with Guyana and had marine expeditionary forces down there. Venezuela recently lost a warship to a civilian science vessel.

The avoidance of Trinidad and Tobago has a r/fuckyouinparticular feel to it.
Going by media reports, looks like Venezuela is going to be pre-occupied trying to avoid losing their own land to US.
South American countries and bullshit territorial claims, a tale as old as… well, South American countries.
US reason to attack Venezuelan boats is also to protect their investments in Guyana (Exxon Mobil/ Chevron)
