Personally im all behind it , Canada needs cash and we have massive amount potential built up that can be released to generate that cash , Transformation requires major capital and right now we dont have it .
Carney is playing on the outside bounds of our socail boundaries and he has already very quickly pushed and expanded the boundaries that center lefts and rights will accept .
Every one who is saying its not enough are not acknowledging the socail aspect of what is taking place and what Carney is achieving threw his stategey.
He is moving exactly how any major corporation would move as they navigate the population.
That being said the concept introduced is a massive development and a return to the classic position of how governments used to invest .
Carney has essentially chaulked out a vast area for potential expansion. What he is doing is saying bring me a list of privately funded projects with this area of no infustructure that combined will generate enough government revenue over time to make the governments investment in providing the infrastructure to make these projects possible.
This is using socialist assest in combination with private assets to provide mutual ecconomic benefits in a way that reduces risk for all partys.
Carney’s “nation-building” pitch sounds nice, but it’s way too vague. People want clear plans on housing, productivity, and investment – not broad economic theory. Until he shows concrete policy steps, this won’t convince many voters.

The biggest nation building project the government can do is making energy /communication/ transportation corridors across Canada that are free of treaty obligations.
The treaty obligations are one of the largest hurdles to get anything done in this country
I’ve said it before and I will say it again. You build a nation through education, Healthcare, housing, and quality of life policy decisions. Trying to build our nation with pipelines or submarines or trickle down economics will only serve a handful of Canadians.
We are a country. We are not a bank.
What’s that old saying about pleasing some of the people some of the time and none of the people all of the time….
It’s true that these projects are resource-focused, but one also needs to consider what’s driving them. Carney is trying to make Canada more independent of the US and to diversify our trading relationships. That needs to be done relatively quickly to address whatever threat the Americans represent. That’s best accomplished by playing to our strengths right now. The government is also making major investments in key technology areas, like quantum technology and AI, not to mention electrification at the (Ontario) provincial level, but that’s not part of the so-called nation-building effort.
