And this when Verizon is objectively losing their market position to T-Mobile. Not just a little bit either. Verizon is getting demolished.

    2. Have you been to a Verizon store lately? I mean, I’d fire half of the staff on the spot just for their attitude.

Whenever I see an article about layoffs now I have to read it to see if the company is actually in the shitter or they’re firing people so they can spend more on AI.

      I hate this timeline.

Anyways, at least they’re being let go because their management is incompetent rather than because they’ve decided AI can do the job better.

And I’m guessing all of the cuts are to Customer Service. Actually, scratch that; they can’t have more than 50 people currently employed in that Department company-wide.

      stock price manipulation bs

the actual core of the business won’t change, just less on the books – „stock is going up!!“

Pay very close attention to the part about flipping 180 stores from corporate to franchise. You think you’re getting bad customer service from a corporate location? Just wait until you walk into a franchise owned location—massive difference. Yea Verizon has a culture problem in their stores, been driving out their existing customer base for years but closing down their corporate stores for franchise ran locations will only hasten the decline.

The right move was to lean into customer service of existing customers, not away for that precious immediate boost of profit of staff cutting.

Remember these comments when it happens to your jobs. Amazon, UPS, Target and now Verizon. It’s only the beginning

    8. Hate to state the obvious but, the middle management purge throughout all industries has been on the horizon ever since COVID. They really aren’t needed. Techs are self-sufficient as long as the system is up.If you aren’t doing the physical work you’re just eating up capital for no real good reason.
