Today in why we can’t have non-resident voting for Irish citizens…

But but but, I thought Brexit meant Brexit

I have to say this is one of the things that has bugged me a lot having spent some time in the UK working.
I absolutely have no problem with people that have grown up in the UK with Irish parents or even grandparents, and who feel culturally connected to Ireland. However, I have met countless young people who have straight up told me that they have never set foot in Ireland or even met their Irish grandparent, but are simply applying for their Irish passport to allow themselves to live in Spain or somewhere else in Europe.
Perhaps it’s something that we shouldn’t lose too much sleep about, but it certainly is something that I don’t think will ever fully sit right with me

Applying and have no intent to live here is pretty crap.

They should have to first answer the question, „Is Ireland in the UK?“
Any positive answer, or an answer mentioning „the British Isles“ or pronouncing Ireland without the R, immediate refusal.
