Hallo zusammen, hier ist etwas Seltsames. Ich bin in einem Alter, in dem ich regelmäßig die Todesanzeigen überprüfe, um festzustellen, ob jemand, insbesondere die Familie alter Freunde oder Nachbarn, zu denen ich den Kontakt verloren habe, verstorben ist. Das ist mir aber in den letzten Monaten aufgefallen rip.ie wird nicht so oft aktualisiert. Ich weiß, dass viele Familien überhaupt keine Listen auflisten, aber vielleicht sehe ich in einer Woche eine Bekanntmachung aus meiner Stadt (eine relativ große). Nutzen die Leute andere Websites oder nur die der tatsächlichen Bestattungsunternehmen? Entschuldigung für den morbiden Beitrag, aber ich wollte eine Nachricht an einen Freund aus Kindertagen senden, dessen Mutter verstorben ist, und ich konnte keine Details finden.

Rip.ie started charging €100 for a listing, so some people might choose not to do a listing I suppose.
Great to have interests………..Some funerals are quite private nowadays… It could be that some are not using [rip.ie](http://rip.ie) as I believe the now charge a fee for the listing also.. Some appear weeks later also…as regards sussing out the details, ring a few undertakers in the area..
Could somebody start a free version? I am sure that they could host a donations page, to help with the upkeep
There’s also the risk of advertising that your house will be empty during the funeral to all and sundry.
I check it to see if there may be some upcoming properties for sale 🙂
When my dad died, rip.ie was such a great thing to have. The funeral director printed out the condolences in a book form for us. We still have 2 copies
I understand it’s a business, and can’t be run for free, but I really think the government should maintain it. It’s a resource everyone knows to post to, and everyone knows where to look for these notification. Privatisation of this service is only going to cause division and confusion.
The only place I check is [RIP.ie](http://RIP.ie) I have an email alert setup for the local (rural) area – I would know most of the people there so would like to know if someone died, and its where I put condolence messages.
The flurry of alternatives that were created when [RIP.ie](http://RIP.ie) upped their charges didn’t get traction. All the local deaths still go on [RIP.ie](http://RIP.ie) The local undertakers make the decisions on what site to use, I expect – and also get them announced on local radio. The undertakers don’t list obits on their own website.
Maybe your town is just not having many deaths!
https://ripireland.ie has been set up by a funeral director and is free for people. Its mainly waterford people bit it’s nice to have a free option.
Shame that RIP.ie charge €100 for a listing. That would well cover the cost of maintaining the website. Squeezing grieving families is horrible.

My dad says as he used to read the obituaries in the news paper, he d check fir two things, 1. To see if there was anyone he used to know and 2. To make sure his name is not in it.
Out of curiosity, what would happen to a body if one did not want to pay for any funeral/dying expenses whatsoever?
€100 is just taking advantage. People are in such a state of shock that the funeral directors pretty much do most of the work and we don’t have time to look at all the fees . €50 to me is way more reasonable
It’s worth it to start paying into a funeral insurance plan, if possible. About 20 quid a month and takes the hassle away from your family. No frills collection and cremation is 2k.
