Why can’t the reason ever be „it’s a good thing for society?“
So…what’s the plan here? Some techbro dooshes are wiping out a whole generation of skilled workers, so every kid graduating needs to be part of the gig economy, living at home, until they get enough certification through online courses to actually qualify for a mid-entry level job? Or do they just want skilled labor to eventually all be AI and humans doing the grunt work for the elite? I mean…not trying to be a conspiracy theorist here, but sounds pretty fucked.
This is just how boomers think. They care about nothing but making more money for themselves.
Mm yeah… who would have ever thought that the billionaires and multi millionaires are trying to wipe out the lower/middle working class?
Reads like fiction, or more appropriately, like it was written by AI. Ironic.
Yeah, in 5 years when AI is still hallucinating and making mistakes, your AI experiment is going to leave you with no new trained and skilled staff to replace those who have moved up or move on.
Good luck with that.
If you look at history, having a lot of young unemployed people, especially men, is not a good thing for society
I wonder if these people realize they are going to wipe out their own customer base. If people can’t find work they won’t be buying anything.
This is behind a paywall, and I’m too young and unemployed to buy a subscription
So if AI takes all the jobs how do we buy anything? How will corporations make money.
They get blamed for having no money to retire and being leeches by rich conmen when the time comes.
Punkification, young people have nothing to lose. Maybe this is why world go full surveillance with their tech oligarchs.
UNIVERSAL BASIC INCOME. AI is DECIMATING entry level tasks / jobs in every industry. Time for AI $$$$$ to provide a minimum safety net.
As a young person now, it’s got to be next to impossible to pick a stable career path for university/college.
Arts were a joke already, a lot of which are being rapidly replaced by AI.
Engineering, drafting, and architecture are ripe for replacement by robotics and ai.
Math related degrees that aren’t research or theoretical are going to be replacable.
Software development is going to change, and entry-level jobs are going to disappear entirely, I see this becoming more of an apprenticeship type of role for AI oversight and management.
Business degrees will be worthless with management and in-house business roles disappearing being replaced by AI.
Feels like the only real safe bet is things for maintaining people directly instead of business, eg, medical, law, trades.
Corporations are doing exactly what politics have already done; making themselves inaccessible to a younger generation with new ideas and energy.
In a couple decades, these corporations will all be even more full of geriatric old fucks like Mitch McConnell, Donald Trump, etc who refuse to retire, or rich shitheads who got in through favors and back alley deals.
This will not be good for anybody.
We need to build a new business model that works for people – workers and customers- not billionaires, whatever they are. One little business at a time, local.
What happens is they’ll have nothing to lose, and we’re gonna see quite a bit of civil unrest.
Have any of you seen this in your actual workplaces?
The answer might be to defend and find small businesses. Humans together strong 💪
They’ll hopefully revolt and burn this government down
Crime.
Legit when you have no other options there’s always dealing and what not.
They will get radicalized to the right and kill people or radicalized to left and help us build safety nets and regulations.
Bet AI can’t take my catalytic converter heist jobs.
The idiot who is that shortsighted will pay a price or at least his company will. AI has a place and can improve productivity but if you don’t have an entry point then you’re going to find yourself with a gap in the future.
Seriously fuck these people. I’ve just graduated with a Master in Computer Engineering and get nothing but rejections from applications I send out…
Honestly feels like I’ve wasted my life studying
Short term greed for long term pain.
The pitchforks better come out soon, or it will be too late.
Copy-paste that Ford article from yesterday about not being able to hire for six figure journeyman jobs in 5-10 years. New hires are supposed to be trained. They aren’t supposed to be as good as AI right off the bat.
Guys, does anyone else think we should just fast forward to the end of this game of Monopoly? Can we just give them ALL of the money, then they can be happy and fuck off?
Welcome to Late Stage Capitalism
It’s great, stop training people for jobs, import or outsource people to do the jobs, complain no one wants to work any more, direct the ire of the unemployed masses towards the immigrants, rinse, repeat and bank your billions.
