Laws? Those are more like ‚guidelines‘.
I don’t think that the US government has met an international law that it hasn’t disregarded, subverted, blocked, ignored, selectively applied, or otherwise rendered inoperable to itself.
If this was China, the West would be discussing sanctions.
It’s not just against international law, it’s also evil. Democratic governments don’t summarily execute people for smuggling drugs – it’s not a crime that carries the death penalty. What’s the difference between this and being shot dead at the roadside because you had a trunk full of drugs? This is state-sanctioned murder.
The overwhelming understanding of „what is law“ from the modern American right is that laws are things that American conservatives like when they are convenient; but just don’t quote them on it a week or two from now because that may be very illegal if they decide they don’t like you quoting it.
