      Really, how did this court PROVE that AI storing exact data in their systems? Did they make an audit in OpenAI? Did they even know how AI works? Without „scraping copyright machine“ nonsense?

      They are right as AI companies should be using public domain data for training. They learn patterns in the data to reproduce it. LLM training literally penalizes the model for predicting the next token in the lyrics incorrectly.

      The power of the GEMA is not to be understated. A number of German Christmas markets won’t have music again this year because they perceive the GEMA fees as extortionate, but they can’t just not comply because then they’ll get sued into the ground for copyright violations.

      Scraping for AI training data always had a limited lifetime. As soon as you draw the ire of corporate copyright holders upon you, you are done for. They are awful, evil entities, but at least they are equally awful to everyone.

      Do we really think they gonna re train their AI models again without the data from scratch?

      Seems like we just need to tax companies that heavily use AI way higher

      I hate GEMA so much – for the longest timewe had more videos blocked in Germany than censor heavy places like Saudi Arabia, thanks to them – but this is obviously objectively good.

      Hope other license holders follow suit, especially those representing visual artists.

      Bloody hell that’s ridiculous. Just as ridiculous as the fact that if I post the lyrics to a song on reddit, it can get DMCA’d and removed.

      I agree AI steals and it’s bad and changes things, but I’ve always originally thought copyright law was a load of shit used by big entities to fuck us over. The amount of dumb copyright strikes people get on youtube and shit or huge artists trying to copyright chord progression. Bloody dumb.

      But protecting the little guy from AI companies will be worth it, but personally, I’m still not going to pay for an artist to make some dumb random image I’m gonna use as a meme or a profile etc sorry that’s my money and better off in my pocket 😂
