Probably doesn’t help the CAD$ is only worth 70 US cents. So not only has our currency depreciated, we are also made to feel unwelcome. Better to spend the money domestically and support each other….or visit a different country where we“re appreciated.

I went one final time earlier this year to visit friends and family in Florida. I would have canceled that trip but everything was already planned prior. I informed everyone down there that this was the last time I’m visiting until Donald Trump is no longer the president.

‘In the latest data for September, the number of return trips among Canadians travelling to the U.S. dropped by 27 per cent for air travel, and by a jarring 35 per cent for land travel, compared with the same time last year.’
The US Travel Association is predicting a travel trade deficit of $70 billion (US) in 2025. Usually they enjoy a trade surplus in travel.

Not really surprising tbh. The exchange rate’s rough, plus flights and hotels in the U.S. have gotten way more expensive. A lot of Canadians are realizing they can get similar experiences at home or in cheaper destinations. Unless the dollar evens out or cross-border costs drop, I don’t see this trend changing anytime soon.
