Ich habe diese Karte zum Spaß erstellt, nachdem ich es satt hatte, die anderen „Klima-Analogkarten“ zu sehen, auf denen ganze Länder vage in einen Topf geworfen werden. Sie sind interessant, aber oft ziemlich ungenau.
Dieser vergleicht einige spezifische australische Städte/Orte und andere interessante Orte mit ihren nächstgelegenen klimatischen Gegenstücken in Nord- und Mittelamerika, verglichen mit langfristigen Durchschnittswerten der Temperatur und des jährlichen Niederschlags. Die Basiskarte zeigt den jährlichen Niederschlag in ganz Australien und gibt einen Kontext dazu, wie diese Klimazonen aufeinandertreffen. Auch wenn kein Analogon perfekt ist (insbesondere angesichts der Unterschiede in der Saisonalität der Niederschläge und der Unterschiede zwischen maritimen und kontinentalen Klimazonen), ist es eine interessante Möglichkeit, zu sehen, wie sich Australiens Klima im Vergleich zu Orten im Pazifik verhält.
Mit ArcGIS mit den Niederschlagsdaten von BOM erstellt und dann in Adobe Illustrator und Photoshop fertiggestellt.

Brisbane being Florida just makes way too much sense

This is pretty solid, nice to see a more accurate comparison map.
I always thought Kosciusko was more Mt Washington. But Mt Washington can be way more extreme in winter than Kosci. Jefferson made more sense, not as extreme as Washington.

Seems I do know the way to San Jose.
As a Georgia native, I’m kind of curious why you went with Brunswick instead of Savannah which I think would be a bit more of a recognizable city. They’re only about an hour and a half from each other and have similar climates and receive close to the same amount of rainfall.
But still it’s a pretty neat map and puts things into perspective.

San Jose. Like Bay Area? For Perth? No, it’s more like San Diego with slightly hotter summers.
And Geraldton is more like somewhere south on the Baja California west side.
I always thought San Diego would better match Perth.
Fun Facts I discovered while researching for this map. I discovered two almost perfect climate matches that were quite unexpected.
Portland, Oregon and Orange, New South Wales, share near identical temperature and rainfall averages, with the main difference being Portland’s slightly greater extremes due to North America’s more continental climate.
Another near identical pairing is San Salvador, El Salvador and Darwin, Northern Territory. Fainfall totals, seasonal distribution, and temperature ranges align perfectly, with Darwin averaging about one degree cooler in its minimums and one degree warmer in its maximums. And San Salvador getting a tiny bit more rain in their dry season.
