Even if this is just an urban legend, I think people like this definitely exists, they just weren’t allowed to. Soldiers may be unwilling to kill civilians, but their motivation is to defend their country, to remove a threat to a peaceful world. People who are willing to blindly kill others because they don’t like the other guy or just for sport exist. What is happening in the US should be clear that there are lots of people who are willingly causing suffering upon others. Aren’t there MAGA supporters who are itching to shoot liberals in the face? They’re waiting for a civil war to break out.

It’s frightening that most humans are pretty chill, maybe a little selfish and childish at times, but mostly carry around a decent amount of empathy for other people….but when people are evil they are just fucking horrifying. Mob violence spurred by fear and hate is one thing, but to use wealth as a tool to purposefully, and happily, cause human death and suffering is difficult to imagine.
This doesn’t shock me. I once talked to a rich asshole who was about to go on a hunting safari in Africa and he was GIDDY and practically trembling as he told me the law there was that you could shoot poachers onsite. I doubt that’s actually true, but he 100% believed it and I could tell he had a sickness inside of him and was gleeful at the thought of shooting another human being.
