[In an open letter,](https://www.afrikanersvirsa.co.za/en) the group – which included political analysts, economists, lawyers, journalists, religious figures and historians – [rejected the narrative that they were the victims of racial persecution and even genocide](https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/trump-white-south-african-refugee-plan-b2855650.html), saying that it was “not only misleading, but dangerous.”
