How would I put it positively… let’s say that this map has a lot of potential for improvement in readability and understandability. Throw almost all labels on the map area away, improve visibility of those that are left on it, explain population and area statistics on different sides of the Hu line, and possibly even adjust the colour scheme (is the gradation really necessary?).

And then there’s the question how the South China Sea is relevant on the subject matter of this map… has it suddenly sprung up a large population? It’s literally just black spots on this map.

It’s impressive compared to likes of Canada, Russia or Australia.
