    1. How many times have I seen that exact headline after him caving to the right before lol

    2. We need new leadership. 10 years of this trying to play by the rules while republicans jump over them just isn’t working.

Nobody needs to be in office serving the public for 50 years – it was never meant to be such a role. You can’t be in touch with the public when your entire working career has been spent in the fantasy land of Congress.

I left him a message saying what I thought of his cowardly leadership.

    5. He should resign. From the Senate.

He’s clearly not fit or interested in fighting to defend democracy and American citizens.

    6. Schumer and The Traitorous Eight just treated my family’s future like it was an underage girl on Epstein Island.

We take our comedians seriously and our politicians as jokesters, to paraphrase Will Rogers.

No Senator even really cared about the ACA. All of their families, and most of their friends, have always had nice healthcare.

In other news, the Dow was at a near-record high today and the 100 Senators hold a combined worth of more than $1 billion (estimated by OpenSecrets).

    8. Not American, but can’t he be removed as leader through another vote of the Democratic Caucus? Or is this just more nonsense to make news stories of the minority of the house democrats want him gone (the progressives) and the old guard, which make up the majority, was to keep him?

He has proven time and again to be an ineffective and disappointing leader. He should resign, but he never will.

I’m really disappointed in everyone who caved and I also fully believe Schumer should resign, BUT I also think there was almost no chance it wouldn’t end this month.

I knew that once there was any possibility that it would become impossible for Americans to fly to visit family for Thanksgiving, the govt would reopen. And I knew it would be the Dems caving, not JUST because they’re spineless, but because they are the only ones that are compelled by some level of empathy. Republicans don’t care if children in their own states die of preventable diseases, or guns, or starvation.

There was no way anything short of multiple direct threats on their lives was going to convince republicans to reopen the govt

    11. Who are we picking? I don’t know that there is a person I love with the clout

This generation of politicians should have been put out to pasture sooo long ago. I’m 75 and they seem absolutely ancient to me.

Under 50? We need you in office.

Yeah right, well I’ll take wishful thinking over obvious despair right now.

    14. Mitch would never cave. He would have gotten rid of the filibuster if it suited him as well

He needs to resign. He accomplished nothing and deserves to be primaried. The dems need strong leadership. They don’t have it right now.

Typically leadership steps down after getting blown out in normal, healthier democracies.

Bye boomer. Be sure to show us your blank sheet of accomplishments on the way out so we can thank you for all the bending over you’ve done during your tenure.

    18. Maybe it would have been easier to vote for democratic majorities in 2024.

    19. ImprovementExpert511 on

Honestly all 8 of those that switched sides should be receiving the same pressure. Theres no room for traitors and cowards.

I called and emailed my senators today to let them know that I appreciate their no votes, but if they do not call for Schumer to be removed as minority leader and/or do not support Schumer being removed as leader that I would be supporting whomever their primary opponent is when they are up for reelection and I would cease all campaign contributions to them and the party as a whole, even though it’s peanuts compared to corporate donations.

    21. It’s time to let the Democratic Party come to an end. We need new ideas, not antiquated nonsense rooted in imperialism and brushing slavery under the rug.
