SS: Given that a lot of content here reads as if it’s just come straight from Natanyahu’s press office, I think it’s important to hear from some real Israeli voices speaking out at great personal risk. Hopefully this better enables people to distinguish between various assertions of questionable veracity.

      >> The soldiers who agreed to talk confirmed the IDF’s routine use of human shields, contradicting official denials, and gave details of Israeli troops opening fire unprovoked on civilians racing to reach food handouts at the militarised distribution points.

We already have months of video evidence, but it’s nice to finally have admissions on the record.

      >> “I feel like they’ve destroyed all my pride in being an Israeli – in being an IDF officer,” Daniel says in the programme. “All that’s left is shame.”

      Quite.

As is so often the case, it’s impressive how quickly and easily populations can become radicalised.

Some might argue that this article is too narrow or localized in scope to count as one which is geopolitically relevant, but I think it does point to something important.

When viewed from a distance, testimonies like the ones in this article add to a mountain of credible information which undermines the pro-Israel narrative while being readily accessible to most people in the West. Any serious examination of Israel’s situation on the world stage will conclude that its long term survival is dependant on Western backing, so this wave of negative sentiment implies an approaching cliff which Israel seems intent on running off of.

The people who are shocked at what this article is claiming are the ones who’ve buried their heads in the sand for the past 3 years.

It won’t be long till comments here start accusing those IDF soldiers of being self hating Jews or mentally deranged. Some of comments here asking why there isn’t bodycam videos are especially egregious. Israel’s top military lawyer is being attacked for releasing videos of Palestinians being raped by Israeli prison guards. There is an immense pressure quiet the Israeli government to keep these whistleblowers down and obfuscate in the comment sections on Reddit about every article that mentions them.

It’s nice to see Israeli veterans finally speak up against their own government and military’s actions.

In case people wanted some more testimony from IDF soldiers, this is a good read from Israeli media: https://www.972mag.com/israelis-logic-gaza-genocide/

A choice quote which sums it all up

      > Another soldier recounted participating in the shelling of an entire residential block, comprising more than 10 multi-story apartment buildings and one high-rise all packed with families. She knew beforehand that in doing so she and her crew would likely kill some 300 civilians. But the operation, she explained, was based on intelligence suggesting that a relatively senior Hamas commander **might be hiding** somewhere beneath one of these buildings. Without more precise information, they destroyed the entire area in the hope of killing him.

      > What lies at the heart of all of these justifications is the dehumanization of Palestinians. **The soldiers who slaughtered 300 people to kill a single Hamas operative told me they probably would not have done so if one Jewish child had been in the building.**

      Hmm.
