Just saying though, $50/month (assuming no data caps) is cheap
Many fiber internet companies offer a life lock price. That’s something that you may want to look into if Verizon isnt the only gigbit company in your area. A 63% increase over 3 years is a Comcast level of fuckery that makes me glad I switched to a local internet company that will not increase the price provided that I don’t change services or move.
I got locked into 1 Gbps Fios for 5 years (signed up 2 years ago) for $45. Definitely worth calling and seeing what they can do

Cable companies always play a game of offering a great introductory rate and then jumping it up when that rate is over.
It sucks when you only have one wired ISP to choose from.
Let’s be real, no one is actually getting a 1 Gbps connection. You pay for that, but they only have to provide you UP TO 1 Gbps.
But the fact that technology services are getting more expensive instead of less expensive is because we have essentially monopoly conditions for Internet service in the US.
Most Americans have a *SINGLE* choice for high speed internet. There is no competition.
$50 to $80 is a 60% increase
A boss of mine just complained about paying $350 a month for their TV/Internet package. In this case, it’s definitely extorting the elderly as she’s peaking at 90 years old and lives by herself.
Google Fiber claims they have not raised their prices for their history.

I can’t get anything quicker than about 75 Mbps. I pay $100 lol. Manitoba fuckin sux like that.
Mine just jumped up but I contacted support and got them to lower my bill by $15 plus increase my speeds.

This is why you need a regulator to manage monopolies.
They shouldn’t be able to set prices if they are a monopoly in an area providing an essential service like internet access, nor should they be allowed to increase prices by more than CPI.

Google Fiber 1 Gbps has been $70 since they started in 2012.
$80 for 5 gbps! Ziply fiber. Way too much spread but it was cheaper than doing less lol.
I pay $84 per month for 600 meg cable… that went from like $45 to $84 in the same time frame as yours. I would love to have 1 Gb fiber for $79%.
1Gb fibre is €30.99 in france, they’re apparently trying to upgrade everyone to 7Gb soonish
