What even is the point of electing democrats if they refuse to expend political capital for things like defending the defining democratic achievement of this century?
Republicans kept the US House closed since Oct 1, and now some Democrats are okay with agreeing to the version that passed before that date. So there was not even the smallest compromise from Republicans. Total failure in legislative negotiations doesn’t build much confidence. Democrats forcing Republicans to vote on trading 2025 tax cuts for billionaires for ACA health care subsidies should have been the minimum compromise IMO. Put everyone on the record with a vote.
If they would have held up till thanksgiving i feel gop would cave cause imagine the people pissed over it and flights cancelled / delayed etc TSA lines super long etc.
After all this pain, all the support from the constituents, democrats are just going to fold and lose this shutdown situation
