In the 1970s West Germany dropped claims on the former „Ostgebiete“.

I never really understood how West Berlin worked, as it was enclosed inside DDR.

Were there deals in place for travel and goods etc between West Germany and West Berlin? Or was it just one big American show?

Tbh If my country lost so much territory after a war where they lost even more territory and now its split up in two I would also cope

    4. My grandparents lived in the upper, now polish region and were part of the refugee wave right after ww2 seeking a new life in east germany. it would be decades later when they went back to poland to re-visit their old village/cottage or at least what had been left of it. I have a whole line of relatives, most of them gardeners and landscapers coming out of prussia/poland as well as czech side. my grandpa was/is a great archivist and tracked down most of it meticulously.
