So, when he’s flailing and crashing out, socialism is a perfectly acceptable maneuver to make.

      Got it.

    2. Just wait for the magic trick and sleight of hand as Trump actually re-directs the money to his gaudy low-class ballroom.

    3. >Trump added: „In other words, take from the BIG, BAD Insurance Companies, give it to the people, and terminate, per Dollar spent, the worst Healthcare anywhere in the World, ObamaCare. Unrelated, we must still terminate the Filibuster!“

Insurance companies HATE this one simple trick!!!

    4. DarthHiccups on

His hair seems to be fleeing at an accelerated rate, just like his mind already has.

    5. He’s the dumbest president ever. Dismantling the ACA to „hurt the bad insurance companies“ then giving people the ACA cash to „buy their own insurance and keep the extra money for themselves“ is so completely idiotic it’s hard to imagine that even Trump would say it.

In addition, why won’t people insured by their companies ask to ALSO be given the money to pay their share, too?

On the bright side, Trump’s finally actually shared his health care plan. And it’s every bit as thoughtful and intelligent as we thought.

    6. Trump is proposing the end of the ACA(Obamacare) by going around the structure and giving funds directly to people.

First, people can already use the tax credits immediately.

Second, giving money instead of tax credits, will leave people without the protections in the ACA that insurance companies can’t refuse to cover „pre-existing conditions“, just like before the ACA was created.

      Edit to add:

Patient protections in the Affordable Care Act (ACA) include prohibiting insurers from denying coverage for pre-existing conditions, eliminating lifetime and annual limits on essential health benefits, and requiring free preventive care. The ACA also allows young adults to stay on their parents‘ plan until age 26 and requires health plans to provide free preventive services, such as vaccinations and screenings, with no out-of-pocket costs. Other protections include the right to appeal a denied claim and limits on out-of-pocket costs.

    7. Hasn’t this guy been two weeks away from announcing his health care plan for the last ten years already? And he’s still just spouting off talking points?

    8. That’s not a viable option to end the shutdown. They’d still need Democrats to vote for it, which they never will as it would gut the ACA and collapse the U.S. healthcare system.

He’s tried ‚everything‘ except for the obvious and most simple solution. Extend the subsidies.

Why does Trump hate this country so much? Like what does he get out of destroying America?

    10. TheFutureIsAFriend on

Just rename it „TrumpCare“ and he’ll STFU and leave it alone.

Note if you actually do the math and convert the funding that goes into ACA into money for each individual American you get like $400 each annually , totally enough for healthcare

    12. Actually, I think Trump has a great idea here…but it doesn’t quite go far enough.

Instead of dealing with private insurance companies, doctors and hospitals should be able to submit medical bills to the government for payment!

It would eliminate so much red tape and third party profiteering!

They could call it the „Official Benefit for Accessible Medical Affordability“, or OBAMAcare for short.

It kinda just rolls off the tongue, doesn’t it?

    13. Spoken like a rich, out-to-lunch, coddled, spoiled, Daddy’s boy who has never had to purchase his own insurance, has zero idea how expensive it is, and actually thinks the health insurance industry, one of the most predatory in existence, won’t jack up prices once government management is out of the picture.

    14. It’s so funny he’s complaining about the ACA being a subsidy for insurance companies when that’s exactly why the heritage foundation created the legislation for Mass under Romney.

The republicans will never come up with a better plan because it is their plan.

    15. At this point, I think he’s just better off asking ChatGPT what to do next instead of just coming up with these idiotic things, we would all be better off.

    16. Looks I’m all for rebates or UBI or whatever to put cash in American pockets, but this is just thoughtless.

    17. Once again for those in the back:

The Executive branch does not have this power. How many times to we have to say that before it sinks in, or before someone in the media says that to him out loud.

He is specifically not in charge of economic policy in this way. His job is to see to it that what Congress allocated is dispersed.

The Constitution and the Impoundment Control Act of 1974 are very clear about this.

It’s long past time for us to just tell him, „No.“

This headline is doing a lot of fucking heavy lifting for the nonsense Trump proposed. This headline makes it seem like he has a plan when he doesn’t even have a fucking concept of a plan. Fuck this headline.

    19. giggity_giggity on

Republicans don’t want single payor, which means we have to have insurance companies. And then they lifted the cap on insurance company profits under ACA. And now they’re complaining that the subsidies would go to insurance company profits.

These are not serious or honest people.

But maybe Trump can trick them into implementing single payor.

    20. twitch_delta_blues on

So, take money from people, in the form of the taxes, and then give it everyone equally. A very social plan…

    21. Gee, sending checks to the people instead of giving them health insurance will sure solve their problems… /s As if anyone would dutifully set the money aside just in case they get injured or have a disease. You spent the money paying your existing medical bills? Sorry, no more for you…

    22. rooktakesqueen on

I mean, he’s right. We should take insurance companies out of the equation entirely, and just have the government give people the money they need to pay for healthcare when they need it.

Although on second thought that might be inefficient — maybe the government could simply pay the providers directly for people’s care. Some sort of „single-payer“ system.

    23. MAGA, he doe snot give a flying fuck about you, tax cuts for his pedo buds and his own personal desires are more important.

    24. So let me get this straight…

The ACA was changed during negotiations, from a single payer system, to competitive market exchange with subsides to get Republican support that they never got…

      And now they want this?

    25. of_no_real_opinion on

So the ACA – conservatives that’s the ACA just so you’re aware

    26. barf_the_mog on

He’s so beyond what is even considered unhinged… feel like we’re going to have Pres JD Vance any day now because his health is very obviously deteriorating at a rapid pace.

    27. Honest_Wafer2381 on

So this is his big beautiful healthcare plan he’s been working on for 8 years?
