Yeah, a friend joining a cult does tend to strain things with those who aren’t in that cult.
It’s really hard to have a meaningful relationship with someone who isn’t operating in full reality and gets most of their ‘facts’ from YouTube videos.
It’s a feature not a bug. A new religion needs to cause its adherents to feel isolated outside the in-group.
Had to go no contact with my family for this exact reason. It’s tough when our loved ones are questioning the very reality around them.
It doesn’t even need to be q cultist level. I cut ties with a lot of family over Trump and have friends who did the same thing as well.
