There’s no reason they shouldn’t pay.
It’s a charge intended to relieve congestion, not a charge intended to reduce emissions.
I’m more annoyed that we are still paying the dart charge.

Just because people have an electric car shouldn’t be permission for them to cause congestion. London has the most elaborate public transport system available in the country which everyone should be using and we need to discourage people from driving their own vehicles in London, whether it is electric or petrol.
Couple this with the increases in electricity costs, removal of subsidised parking costs & the government’s reduction in benefit in kind for EVs, this spells the beginning of the end sadly. I love my EV, but who can realistically justify paying 30% more on an electric car compared to it’s ICE equivalent?
Also even from a pollution and non-congestion stand point the tires themselves are still polluting.

Well this seems economically backwards. Whilst we do not want congestion, we do want as many vehicles as possible moving about as we can! It’s not traffic, cars are the literal engines of the economy so their movement drives the entire country forward. Taxing moving vehicles is a tax on the natural human activity of driving economic growth. If they are electric and emissionless then I do not see the issue with them in urban environments unlike petrol.
