    1. Aside from the stupidity, Good luck doing that with the house basically shut down

      >A House GOP lawmaker is proposing to block federal funds from New York City for as long as Zohran Mamdani is mayor.

      >Forthcoming legislation led by Rep. Buddy Carter, R-Ga., is called the Moving American Money Distant from Anti-National Interests Act, or the “MAMDANI Act” for short.

      >The two-page bill text stated that “notwithstanding any other provision of law, during any period in which Zohran Mamdani is mayor of New York, New York” that “any unobligated Federal funds available” for the city “are hereby rescinded” and that “no Federal funds may be obligated or expended for any purpose to New York, New York.”

      >It is expected to be introduced on Friday, Fox News Digital was told.

      🤦

😂 all this over a mayor. I WISH he could snap his fingers and cut off federal taxes.

Blocking federal funds coz a socialist won? That’s a textbook definition of political vendetta

    5. ImaginationToForm2 on

This sounds illegal. What reasons could they use to stop the money just for one specific city? Like, Well we just don’t like that one dude in it.

So when they lose power we can start pushing bills to deny funding for states led my racists and nazis.

Just like how Alex Rodriguez kept the New York post in business during his tenure with the Yankees, the post found their new golden goose in mamdani to run a daily headline.

The GOP when they get their way, even against the will of the people: 😁

The GOP when the people vote, and they lose: 😡😡

Then there’s no reason for NYC to pay any Federal taxes… pretty simple.

    10. Cool. Just as long as taxes collected in NYC don’t go to the federal government and citizens of NYC don’t have to pay federal taxes. We’ll call it even.

    11. Ah yes, the party that screams „Freedom and Liberty“ wants to punish anybody who doesn’t vote the way they demand. Petty tyrants and bootlicking shitheels, from the top on down.

    12. Wow these fucking republican morons are some real petty bitches. When you start punishing a population because of how they voted, that’s called fascism.

    13. Easy solution.

New York generated approximately $320.1 billion in tax collections, 7.5% of all U.S. tax collections in FFY 2023, while the state represented 5.8% of the nation’s population. At $16,355, New York’s per capita contribution to the federal treasury was 27.8% more than the national level, and New York’s per capita tax contribution ranks highly in most tax categories.

Good luck ‘Pubs. At some point NYC and all Blue cities and States will refuse payments of federal tax as they are not seeing any money coming back. That money was appropriated for things like SNAP and people are not getting it.

    15. SoundSageWisdom on

Yeah, we’re not fucking doing this. I am fed up with this shit. I’m tired of Republicans playing dirty blocking the money pulling this kind of shit. The people have spoken too fucking bad if you don’t like it find a fucking therapist.

We need to start closing military bases in Texas, and renovate them into low-income housing

    17. Timeformayo on

Georgia gets $1.25 in federal payments for every $1 it contributes. Dumbass needs to think twice before he starts threatening the donor states and donor cities that make life more livable in the rest of the country.

    18. Sounds like an invitation for New York to freeze their contributions to the federal government in return, pending court clarification. Imagine all blue states doing that. Red states would be broke in a week without their blue welfare.

Bro hasn’t even done anything yet.

Meanwhile, we have a dying Republican party and a second term, twice impeached, felon, pedophile, rapist in the White House who is currently the cause of so much division, pain, and suffering in this country.

I don’t ever want to hear any complaining coming out of the republican party. A fake, hypocritical party that has lost its way.

    20. “ A House Republican campaign operative signaled to Fox News Digital on Wednesday that the GOP would seek to tie vulnerable Democrats across the country to Mamdani and his far-left platforms.”

GREAT. See how that works out for you.

    21. Yes, hello, asking for a friend: when is the proper time to call the GOP fascist? They’ve already investigated how to deport him and now they’re actively attempting to deny federal funding for the entire city thanks to him winning the popular vote in a democratic election.

    22. dschinghiskhan on

Madami is absolutely not the leader of the Democratic Party like Republicans in this article apparently suggested. If anyone, it’s Gavin Newsom, which should scare Republicans even more when it comes to the next presidential election.

    23. Islandboi4life on

Mamdani should introduce legislature to block giving federal taxes to the federal government then. It’s only fair.

    24. RiffRaffCatillacCat on

More Civil War being openly waged by Republicans. This is unsustainable.

    25. FYI for the ignorant, NY pays more taxes than it receives. Most taker states are red. I say let’s defund them until they learn to be responsible.

    26. They are introducing legislation to punish voters for voting in a candidate of their choice?

    27. Dude hasn’t even done anything yet and they are acting like a 5 year old in a haunted house.
