Amazing news Manchester is really knocking it out of the park in terms of development. I am absolutely shocked HS2 won’t run there it almost feels vindictive.
Brilliant news. Although I am really hoping someone decides to build onthose three story 90s terraces and flat carparks which dot the city.
These tall residential buildings all seem to be circling the southeast of the city, rather than using the ample space to the north & east, especially by Picadillly.
Great news! If the UK is to grow, we need to support more of that development outside of London, and I say that as someone who’s lived and worked in London for the last 20+ years.
Local economy. People need somewhere to live. Makes the city attractive to investment. The benefits outweigh the cons
Building residential is one thing, build office building that are skyscrapers are another. Plus this look like an absolute turd.

Manchesters boom is the success story we don’t seem to talk about, its one of the fastest growing regions in europe.
Unfortunately, there’s so many legal loopholes the social housing element of this build will either dwindle significantly or disappear entirely to replaced with either a sports facility or community centre. I see it time and time again. Most of these homes will be unaffordable and will either be snapped up by Chinese investors or bought on mass for the rental market.
These will be filled with affordable housing right ????????
Where I live, any building over about 4 stories results in an outpouring of disapproved NIMBY Boomers weaponizing laws against the generations they’ve pulled the ladder up from.

Boring looking skyline isnt it? Good news for Manchester but it is crying out for more interesting buildings than a bunch of rectangles.
