      Doesn’t China remain rather cavalier to this day about abandoning their space junk with little effort to deorbit it? Maybe this is the stimulus they need to start taking it seriously.

      Or perhaps a less hysterical headline might be; “Astronauts return to earth delayed by damage to return vehicle caused by not very mysterious space stuff floating around that is well documented and not really unexpected to do damage because there is so much of it floating around, and then there is the natural stuff on top of the human detritus”.

      Please do not reply to any emails you receive saying that a stranded astronaut needs money to return from orbit. That stuff’s being paid for by their government, for good or ill.

      China is the only country to have a backup rocket ready to fly at a moments notice in events such as these, Wish the U.S and the ESA did the same.

      Why is it always mysterious there’s a lot of untracked junk floating around up there at high speed the fact this doesn’t happen more often is the surprise.
