Neat! I’m sure there’s a good reason for the long shutdowns. (making billionaires trillionaires to own the libs)

    2. people tell me all the time i have THE BEST shutdowns. they’re yuge. people love them.

You might want to consider stacking EVERY shutdown against Trump’s shutdowns.

49 days versus 75 days and counting. It feels likely that the current shutdown alone will be longer than all other shutdowns combined.

„If there is a shutdown … I think it would be a tremendously negative mark on the president of the United States. He’s the one that has to get people together.“

      Donald Trump

And should be added chances are pretty good this will not be the last shutdown under Trump. I expect he will continue to gain more share of total shutdown days during his time in office.

    6. A govt shutdown is a congressional failure – specifically, the Senate.

However, while responsibility falls on the GOP, who controlled Congress during both those times, it is important to note that:
      – the president has a bit of soft / indirect influence,
      – Trump *has* been president for the two biggest ones, and
      – in this instance, Trump has accumulated a huge amount of power within the GOP, and is therefore as responsible as any single person has been in modern US history for a party’s failures

    7. As of today, 4.29% of his total time in office has been government shutdown. 11 more days and he’ll hit the 5% mark. Next closest is Clinton with 0.89% of his total term.

    8. “Nobody shuts down the government like I do. They’ve never seen anything like this before. People are coming up me with tears in their eyes, saying ‘Sir, I can’t believe that you were able to do this.’ Many people are saying it’s the most beautiful government shutdown they’ve ever seen.”

Dems shut it down then blame trump.

Anything they can do to blame trump.

    10. What you are seeing play out are two important issues: 1. The US is disastrously in debt 2. The polarization of US politics. The data seems to show a roughly parabolic rise.

    11. This can be solved very easily if Senate Republicans find a spine and remove the filibuster.

There continued lack of resolve is going to ruin Thanksgiving for a lot of people…

    12. This is my favorite of the three ways I’ve seen this presented. It highlights the relative dysfunctionality of government under each administration.

He probably wakes up every morning having forgotten there’s a shutdown.

    14. It’s so funny how people love to say how we don’t need the government and they wish the government would leave them alone…. A couple days in and people were losing their shit.

That’s like 10% of his presidency, dude hasn’t even had a functioning government

    16. It’s so easy to run the government when you just shut the whole thing down! Everyone has always said so. It’s gonna be hyuuuuuuge.

Why don’t the republicans just put a clean CR up and let the Democrats pass that?
