Elsass-Lothringen nach der deutschen Annexion (1871)

Most French people won’t admit it – for obvious reasons, but the objective truth is, that (except francophone Metz and surrounding areas which were exclusively annexed for strategic reasons) Germany didn’t „steal“ anything, but only RECONQUERED and REANNEXED majority and German speaking regions which had been German between 880 AD until 1648 and 1697 when the French intervened in the 30 years war and attacked us during the Nine Years War and stole these regions from us. The German Emperor as well as the other German states never officially recognized and accepted the loss of the free imperial protestant and majority German speaking city of Strasburg for example. We only accepted that France controlled it de facto but de jure it was considered a part of the HRE until 1806. That’s why I don’t understand why French people started to hate us in 1870. The French did humiliate us so many times by attacking us and stealing territories and destroying large parts of Germany as well as occupying us and in 1870 we finally fought back and took back what had been ours anyways. The French couldn’t accept this loss and continuously tried to get it back and to get „Revenge“…
