Mad the amount of people on here trying to say it wasn’t terrorism
Attempted murder surely? What else was he trying to do when he stabbed that garda?
Also an attack like this on any member of the emergency services should carry a mandatory life sentence if proven. It won’t, but in a sane country it should. I saw the video and I have to applaud the gardai involved for taking quick and decisive action before anyone else was injured. I hope that probationer (jaysus, a hell of a way to start the job) is recovering well.
What is the basis of the terrorism charge?
I don’t agree with his guard-killing policy. But I do agree with his mcgregor’s pub-killing policy…

I’ve seen the video of this. Runs up behind the garda shouting Allah hu Akbar and stabs several times into the garda’s side. He targeted the side/under-arm area to try bypass the anti-stab armour. Gets a good few stabs in before the garda gets away. Garda’s vest saved him.
Interestingly, it was a pedestrian who tackled him and brought him down. You never see that mentioned in the press.
How this isn’t outright terrorism is beyond me.

This doesn’t bode well for the Garda’s injuries. The DPP don’t often go with this charge even with very bad injuries.
