We knew this was coming. The hope is those who thought it wouldn’t happen are now seeing the results of voting for reform. It’s just sad that people will die for this realisation to happen.

Out of interest/concern, what happens to the pensions of pensioners when they die? Who would financially benefit from, say, a culling of the old?
Public funding to provide vulnerable old people a dignified life is woke! Let the market decide!! The market cares!!!
For example: whenever I purchase shares in an elder care conglomerate (and believe me, I’m always doing that!), I instruct my accountant to ask not for balance sheets and boring financial projections, but simply if they are very nice, well-staffed with nice white people, and that even the most cash-strapped pensioners can easily afford them. Just trust me on this.
So the only savings they’ve found is to worry and scare the elderly to what? Finish them off? Such a nice, caring and emphatic party 😒
Like corrupt Magas, this is what Reform will do – they’ll asset strip the UK and make their mates and oligarchs richer. No amount of flags and performative patriotism will help you or your family.

Wonder how long it’ll be before my local county council decides that’s their best way out of our budget crisis. They’re already ‚consulting‘ on what services to cut, as well as floating a 10% Council Tax rise (which they’d need special permission for).
But, as we’ve been told again and again over Brexit, „People know what they voted for.“ Granny being thrown out into the street was in fact exactly what they wanted.
Adult social care typically is a big part of a councils budget. Usually alongside schools and road infrastructure.
It looks like firing all those diversity officers was not enough to balance the books then. Who would have thought? Reform are now being forced to do some real politics and not just shout out random soundbites for attention. They are now finding out that funding is not being blown on diversity officers, it just turns out that providing basic statutory duties is bloody expensive.

Still, at least they got rid of the Ukrainian and pride flags off council buildings – and in the end, that’s the main thing.
Are they going to close their care homes and kick all the residents out onto the rain lashed streets or are they going to change owner?
How many local authorities still own care homes? Care homes need updating from time to time, sometimes it is easier to close them and build anew.
My local authority is planning to expand it’s in house provision. Leaving the market for the private sector to control, just leads to the private sector to control the prices the Local Authority have to pay and so is less cost efficient than having local provision to reign them in.
