Fair play to the parents, not the end of the world but I can imagine the hassle of trying to navigate simple issues like this while looking out for your children. And the fact the lad had a previous birthday too!
It’s honestly despicable behaviour, especially for somewhere that advertises itself as being inclusive for kids of all abilities. And sadly, it’s not the first time I’ve heard stories about that Little Island branch being awful to children with additional needs.
Really hope they take this ruling seriously and overhaul their staff training and policies but it shouldn’t take a legal case for basic decency and inclusion.
Those inflatable areas are nuts, by the way. Big kids and toddlers are all going running around, jumping, and doing flips as you’d expect. It’s unfair to discrinate but I can see the logic as these areas can be unsafe
I thought the verdict was very harsh until the article stated that his mother would ’shadow‘ him in the play area. It be different if he was somehow let off to run around. Been to these places many times before, sometimes with a kids gaa trip (absolutely chaotic!!!, killings between the lads) , but if the mother was willing to accompany him in the play area, sign a waver, etc, it should not have been an issue.
I blame insurance. There’s too many cases where something happens a kid, the parents weren’t supervising properly but then have the nerve to sue the business anyway and bloody win thousands. This is a riskier than usual case, if something happened who would be blamed? Yep the business.
People worrying about insurance claims are the real reason for these decisions.
The child had been there before and had gotten on just fine, but this time they said he couldn’t. I’m glad the parents pursued it.
