  1. >Gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 0.6% between January and March, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said.

    I don’t buy it.

Work as a delivery driver in the evenings and i’ve noticed since about February it’s gone DEAD.

A bunch of takeaways have closed for good. Add to that the fact a bunch of shops have also now closed for good, and a few pubs/bars in the town centre also closed for good during this period, yet the economy grew!? Sure as fuck doesn’t look or feel like it!

The figures are what they are. It’s great that things have improved. Not by much, but at least it hasn’t got worse.

Excellent news, maybe instead of eating turnips now I can eat meat instead.

  5. Oh thank god !!! That means everything is okay now right ????? Fucking jokers, I can’t believe a word they say.

  6. With good news like this the tories should call an election before it dips back again.

Dont believe MSM. There always pulling the wool over peoples eyes.

  8. Great! I don’t give a shit whether it’s true or not if it means we get an election and can kick these fuckers to the curb.

More than forecast, growth double the rate in the eurozone and even more than the US in Q1.

Someone will tell me that this is bad news though I’m sure.

Thank God for those official figures, I was really worried for a second but we’re saved!

seems more like a paid ad for the tory party for the coming election

It only matters if people feel better off. I suspect it’s unlikely most people will feel better off, because the underlying causes haven’t really altered.

I hope I’m wrong and we enter a new golden age, but based on previous events it doesn’t feel likely.

If this is what Sunak is hoping for to get reelected it’s weak sauce. I suspect the only way he will be PM this time next year is if he scores the winning goal in the UEFA cup final.

They have been very quiet about the fact we were even in recession

Hooray! We’re slightly less funked! Yeh, things are still pretty shitty.

Rishi is probably delusional enough to think this will improve their numbers

Can someone tell everyone this then?
I work in HGV trade and it’s completely on its arse.

Very little work, people refusing to have jobs done and eek a few more miles out of that component etc.

Work in the freight shipping industry and we are starting to see yet more problems from the red sea. Things were beginning to settle a bit but this last week we are struggling to get space on vessels due to so many of them omitting ports to make up time with the red sea diversion. Freight rates are about to jump up again which puts the cost of everything else up. I don’t think the average consumer is going to feel any financial relief for a while unfortunately.

The chocolate ration has been increased to 20g per week. Victory gin all round!

Rishi on his campaign trail: “The Tories took the country out of a recession!”

  20. StiffAssedBrit on

There are certain, very wealthy people, for whom there is no recession. It’s all good for them. Their incomes are up and their lives are good.

Then there’s the rest of us, who see massively increased costs and stagnant income. We see small businesses closing all around us while the high streets are just shuttered up shops owned by landlords whose greed has priced out their tenants.
We see skilled jobs paying less than they did 20 years ago while expecting an impossible commitment.

For 90% of Britain the recession is very real! But the government doesn’t care about the majority.

I absolutely dont believe a word of it. Will be “adjusted” down as soon as theres not an election around the corner.

No one gives a fuck what this set of numbers says. The reality is most people are absolutely fucked at the end of each month. Or even half way through it. I’m sure Sunak will be out today saying how we should all be grateful though.

If the ONS had said the economy had shrunk by 0.6% how many posts would be questioning their validity? So many of you are embarrassing and have more in common with right wing conspiracy theorists than you’ll ever admit.
