> Looking out at the luncheon guests – including Tessa Thompson, Sarah Paulson, Julia Louis Dreyfuss, Patty Jenkins, Alicia Silverstone, Riley Keough, Zoe Deutch, Joey King, Claire Foy, Odessa A’zion, Ruth E, Carter, Kate Hudson, Indya Moore, Embeth Davidtz, Diane Warren, Katy O’Brian and Tig Notaro, among many others – gathered on the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures’ Dolby Family Terrace, Stewart said, “The backsliding from a brief moment of progress is statistically devastating. It is devastating. Such a pitiful number of films from the past year have been made by women. We obviously need many more women’s luncheons in our lives. We need to become ladies who lunch all the fucking time.”
I love her. Can’t wait to see what she creates in the future.
No lies detected
If the movies keep losing money they aren’t going to keep pushing them out.
i don’t know i’m pretty sure the me too thing purged a lot of the worst nightmare demons
what more progress do you want. she can write and direct her own movies or work more closely with those who do.
women need to step up. her issues have nothing to do with men.
This isn’t just in film.
She speaks truth. Im curious if she is any good?
Can we stop using the word “slam” please?
She’s not wrong. Look at the lack of engagement on this post. It isn’t even something people care to discuss, good luck getting the misogynistic gen pub to see a whole film about women’s issues. They just don’t care. She’s on point as always.
Well put. The studios are always going to bet on the safe option. I think a big part of the problem is the cost of blockbusters have become astronomical so they won’t take any risks.
Directors, maybe. But below the line, women have taken a huge chunk of the jobs. It’s great to see.
Really? Barbie was quite celebrated.
