      I always find it funny whenever the frothing mob who once unironically completely supported Elon pre 2016 now villifies him on the same orders from the media who used to glorify him.

      I find all these articles of people frothing in outrage at anything Elon says or does kind of similar to a group of medieval peasants, armed with torches and pitchforks under a hill, screaming at Leonardo Da Vinci at the top, inventing new machines that people will only appreciate centuries later.

      He didn’t say the British are actual hobbits, what the heck is wrong with people nowadays? He was trying to explain the situation the British people are currently in by using the Lord of the Rings as an allegory. Didn’t anyone listen to the actual podcast?

      I’m British and I’ve always seen the British as just a bunch of hobbits who want to be left the fuck alone, especially folks in the countryside. I fail to see the outrage here, the parallels with Tolkiens descriptions are obvious.

      And many people forget, it was Hobbits who were the greatest of folk in Tolkien’s universe, and indeed saved the whole of middle earth.

      It was the courage of Hobbits that did so.

      The entire of Middle Earth bowed to the Hobbit’s and said „You bow to no one“, even all the great kings and Wizards.

      Anyone who feels insulted to be called a Hobbit doesn’t understand a bloody thing about The Lord of the Rings.
